A 'milestone in Streaming Services' - My Commentary

SevereStudios, a self proclaimed 'leader' in severe weather streaming services, has recently announced they have reached 400 clients that stream through their 'services'. Here are my thoughts on the matter...

You know. It's interesting. They're extremely willing to jump on the bandwagon of tooting their own horn so quickly. Yet, they haven't updated their 'counter' to reflect the one additional 'client' that 'joined'. At least, from my standpoint, common sense would dictate to make sure the information on your website is correct (or in this case - matches with what you're telling the rest of the world) before you start drawing all sorts of attention.

That being said, it was interesting to note back when they switched over to their current layout they had to 'purge' the database. That wasn't quite the case. At one point I had an account with them. This account was a simple membership profile account. I didn't pay for, nor was I interested in any of their streaming 'services' for a variety of reasons I won't discuss on a public outlet such as this.

Once they switched over to their new 'layout', I immediately received unsolicited email due to a marketing campaign they sent out. Here's the catch - my email address was *not* in the new database. It was in the old one. That told me instantly they didn't purge the database - as they had indicated on the website to their members.

One other note - I see there are several 'streamers' in Michigan (at least according to their map). I dispute this claim. While there may at one time have been several people in Michigan to use their 'services'. I do NOT think this is the case any more. Michigan chasers are a close group - as we should be since there aren't very many of us. Of the MI chasers that I'm aware of, all of them have moved onto other, superior, media streaming services for their broadcasting needs.

A caveat to that last paragraph however. -- There may indeed be a few chasers in Michigan using the SS 'services' for their needs. - However, until I see names next to those circles on the maps, I'm calling B.S.
