Wow. what the hell

Submitted by Andrew on Mon, 09/14/2009 - 04:28

So the past few weeks have taken me by surprise. I'm finally in college, with an adjusted work schedule to boot. I'll get used to it as time goes on.

I don't have much to add, except I'm still here and still doing my thing, whatever the hell that is.

Today's Bike Ride

Submitted by Andrew on Tue, 08/18/2009 - 02:22

I've been going for bike ride's recently. I might as well fill this space up and blog about 'em...

Here's the route I took. Total distance was right at 12 miles. I seem to be handling the distance better than I thought.

I've also included a CSV of the GPS Coordinates. I'm not sure if they'll be usefull for a friend to use for his GIS class or not. We'll see.

Chase: Saturday

Submitted by Andrew on Thu, 08/06/2009 - 21:14

So, thing are looking good here for Saturday. - I'm planning on chasing Southern MI / Northern IN throughout the day. I'm not entirely sure where I'll start from, nor certainly where I'll end up, but it should be an exciting day.

I'll probably be chasing with Ben Holcomb and/or L.B. LaForce. We'll see what their plans are come saturday. Currently the two of them are making plans for an IA trip tomorrow. Happy Hunting!

Chase: 7/25/09 - BUSTOLA

Submitted by Andrew on Sun, 07/26/2009 - 06:15

Ben Holcomb, L.B. LaForce and I made the trek into Northern Ohio today hoping to catch some severe weather. The models looked 'okay', not great, but again, we take what we can get. - Anyway, I met up with L.B. at a carpool in Marshall and we headed over to Jackson to meet up with Ben and continue on towards Ohio.

We headed east of Toledo, hoping, waiting for cells to fire, but they didn't. - A severe thunderstorm watch was issued, but for parts of PA and upstate NY. As you can imangine, not gonna happen.

New Ham in the area

Lb LaForce was grated his amateur radio license today. He is how sporting KD8LQM.

Hopefully he won't talke lessons from me on operating! Kidding, of course...

School Districts: All things red - Ink, Faces, and flaring tempers oh my!

Submitted by Andrew on Thu, 07/02/2009 - 11:25

As some of you may be aware, I at one point was employed by a local school district here in Southern Michigan. While I enjoyed working for that district, it came a time where I was to part-ways with the district due to budget concers.

This is rather sad when it is taken into consideration my annual stipend of just over $5,000. But that's besides the point.

The district I left faced a HUGE deficit this year in their budget. They needed to find a way to shore up around $400,000 in budget mismatching before the beginning of the fiscal year on July 1st.

Over the top

I came across this posting on the net this evening... it's about school administrators refusing a student's diploma after he blew a kiss into the audience. Yes, that's right, his offence was blowing a kiss into the audience.

FIrst off: way to go school district. I'm sure you'll get a bunch of students to attend after this one...

Now: here are my thoughts...

A few notes on a few things...

Submitted by Andrew on Mon, 06/15/2009 - 04:40

For those of you that noticed, I turned off my twitter sidebar that was on the side of the page (----->)....

Why? Well. I use twitter to express my thoughts on stuff with my friends. It's simple and it's effective. That's really all there is to it. I don't want everything I say on twitter ending up on here and thus out to the world. Now, I realize that I run that risk every time I post something, but that's besides the point right now.

Chase Day Recap

Submitted by Andrew on Tue, 06/09/2009 - 06:20

We started the day out under a Slight Risk of severe weather per the SPC's 9am Outlook.

The Tornadic threat seemed to be the highlight of the outlook, so we had our fingers crossed.

Not a lot happened during the day until around 4:30pm the SPC issued Tornado Watch 351 effective until 10pm local time.
